Most are well aware that Aldershot lost their league status over 10 years ago and have been battling back through the lower leagues. Their ground however remains the same. Little has changed since I used to regularly go there to watch them do battle with Brentford. Maybe I imagine these things but I remember seeing Steve Claridge playing for them in days long past.
This is for sure one of the more unuusal grounds in the league. The entrance looks more like part of the high street than a football ground. Parking is seven kinds of nightmare. If anyone can tell me where to park then I might just come here more often to see a game. Trains run regularly and loudly behind the main stand. In many respects this is a three-sided ground as nothing much is present behind one goal. Whereas behind the other there is a large old-fashioned terrace with an interesting roof that makes it look like a barn. The small main stand has terracing on both sides of it and the long stand opposite is a mixture of terracing and seating. The main stand has seats coloured in the club colours. An office block dominates the skyline behind the long stand.
This however is indeed a proper ground and one hopes still meets the league ground requirements.
