A ground which is too good really for the Doc Maartens league and as I write this in early 2004 it looks as though Bath City may get relegated to the lower versions of the league. They are bottom.
The ground is really for me an older version of the archtypal Division 4 ground ( now happily called division 3). There is a main stand with a smaller stand next to it on one side of the ground that has terracing below them.
The remainder of the ground is terracing. Behind each goal there is open terracing with the longer covered terrace on the side opposite the main stand. What is nice is that the old fashioned floodlight pylons remain rather than the new slimlined versions.
The ground itself is 1-2 miles out of Bath in the "suburb" of Twerton and sits in a residential area. In front of the ground is the main Bristol road and a series of local Twerton shops and all round the ground there are houses, some of which have very good free views of the football.
Seems a shame that this ground currently plays host to maybe crowds of only 600. I came there a few times when Bristol Rovers groundshared for a few seasons and with a full house this ground has plenty of atmosphere. Car parking then was not joyful though and the local residents must really love it on football days with all the street parking. There is a small car park at the ground but one would not fancy getting a space there.
