King George's Field

One of the most famous amateur clubs of all time. Their ground is based just off the A3 at Tolworth in Surrey and does require a certain degree of navigational skills to actually find. A surprisingly good ground in my opinion. There is a fairly low but fairly long low stand along one side of the pitch and covered terracing behind both goals. The covers to the terracing are actually quite ingenious and maybe were also quite cheap to build. Essentially they are scaffolding upon which has been put on top and behind corrugated metal sheets. So the reality is that 3 sides of the ground are in fact covered! The ground sits in an area of land that is both separate yet joined to an adjacent large park. The reorganisation of the Rymans league this season 2002-3 has meant that effectively Corinthian Casuals have lept 2 divisions higher and are now just below the Rymans premier. A curious effect of this has been that the club ( and others in a similar position) are doing rather better than expected. I think this ground is worth a visit. The photos of the ground are excellent ( and I do not always say that!) because the light conditions in autumn in the afternoons are superb for ground photography with some sun present.
