Firs Park

In 2003-4 they were the weakest side in Scotland and finished bottom in Division 3. Despite this they have a gorgeous little ground where they have been playing since 1921 where for sure I will return to see them play. Capacity is 1,880. The club are actually based in Falkirk. The ground is situated next to or even within a shopping complex. Thus behind one goal there is a stone wall and behind the main stand is the car park for the shopping complex. The other two sides of the ground have housing close by with good views for the occupants.

The main stand is a small neat stand that seats 200 with a sort of barrelled roof and looks a newish stand. The crest of the club sits proudly on the top. There is some covered terracing opposite that runs alongside most of the pitch .Beside lies some “old” grassed over terracing that has not been used for many years. One goal has uncovered terracing whilst the other has only a wall behind it!
The floodlights are small lights on sticks rather like street lighting with 6 alongside each side.

All the other information that you could possibly want can be found on http://www.apwj49.dsl.pipex.com/eaststir.htm which is a great site but of course the photos are not as good as mine!! Something that I did not enjoy reading though was that plans were/are afoot to sell the ground and move the club to Grangemouth. This is a facet of football that in my view should be outlawed. You cannot move a club to a different town and rename it.
