The ground has been in existence for longer than the Welling football club. Built in 1925 it was originally home to Bexley Utd who folded in 1976. Welling then assumed the tenancy and have been there since. Although currently in 2004-5 playing in the Southern League (Doc Martens) premier division, Welling were in and out of the conference during the 1980’s. The ground is currently shared with Erith and Belvedere.
The ground is a great non-league ground. The only thing lacking is any kind of parking as the ground lies on the main road into Welling. There is on one side a main stand with a decent capacity that runs a good length of the pitch. Behind each goal there is uncovered terracing with one end being markedly smaller than the other in terms of terrace capacity. The opposite side of the ground rather strangely belongs to Erith and Belvedere who moved in as co-inhabitants in 1999-2000 season. On this side there is a stand at the far end of a very decent capacity and quality housing maybe 500 I would guess. Next to this stand there is a small amount also of uncovered terracing.
I have never as yet seen a game here but imagine that it has a good atmosphere. Certainly it has some degree of modernisation yet retains character.
