Not that long ago Gateshead were a Conference team but on crowds that currently struggle to get above 250 a return seems unlikely. For season 2004-5 they play in the Northern Premier League which of course is 2 divisions below the current Conference.
The ground of course is fantastic! There is a huge main stand which is covered with an open stand opposite. Behind each goal is open terracing in copious amounts. Indeed the current capacity is 11,500. The reason for the grandeur is of course that the stadium is a world famous athletics venue.
