One of the reasons that I started this site was to preserve photos of grounds that will no longer be there in the future. This is a case in point. This was a sad ground to visit because it really is only one stand around an athletics track. Rather like a heavily down market Withdean (Brighton's current home). Better than nothing though. The old Somerton Park ground has become only an anonymous council housing estate. I found it very sad to see this. Maybe we should be grateful that Newport exist at all and are on the rise up the leagues. I wish them well.
