This is one of my favourite grounds. Somehow it is large yet maintains an intimate atmosphere. The ground is a mixture of different stands and indeed has two floodlights on pylons (like in the old days!!) and the other floodlights are mounted on the roof of the stands.
A large stand rises up behind one goal and a lower stand runs alongside one side of the pitch. Behind the other goal begins a stand which contrives to extend all the way around the rest of the ground getting bigger as it travels on. Even with only 4,000 at the game that I saw ( a league cup game v Kidderminster) there was excellent atmosphere.
The ground is literally alongside the river Trent and over the road is Trent Bridge cricket ground. Over the other side of the river like a
long lost brother is Meadow Lane the home of Notts County.
