It is probably fair to say that the old Wigan stadium was one of the worst grounds in the league. The JJB stadium is one of the best. Beautiful stands, loads of car parks that are free. The only problem is one that is familiar to many clubs building new large grounds, that is a lack of atmosphere. Partially this is because of small crowds and partially because there are far larger areas between the spectators in the stands and the pitch. Most fans seem to sit at the back of the stands and clearly their vocal support does not carry. At Wigan this is less of a problem than at Bolton, but nevertheless, this ground is a must visit.
