National Hockey Stadium

As I write in early 2004 Wimbledon are bottom of division 1 and looking certain to be relegated. Crowds in their new stadium are around 3000.
The current story goes that Wimbledon will play here for maybe 2 seasons and then move to a newly built stadium in the Denbigh area of MK. Wimbledon will basically fund serious ground improvements for the National Hockey Stadium whose ground they are "borrowing".
The stadium itself has a smallish capacity of around 10,000 that seems unlikely to be tested. Essentially it is an all-seater stadium with small though newish stands throughout. I still have this troubling vision that this club will not survive the next 5 years and this really troubles me as the reasons behind this have zero to do with success and all to do with greed. The main stand is the only covered section of the ground and the stands behind each goal have a real flavour of the temporary about them. If you want to read and learn a little about Wimbledon and its clubs and its troubles - which are not really topics that I can go into in much detail - then I recommend having a look at www.historicaldons.com or now at http://64.176.69.147
