Bootham Crescent

When I took these photos in February 2002 there was serious concern that the club would fold. And this was before all the ITV digital affair. The ground is an old fairly typical lower division ground that would not seem too out of place in the conference. A main stand on one side and a lower seated stand on the other. Behind each goal there is terracing with one end uncovered. Do you want to guess which end the away fans get? Although the ground is in the middle of a residential area and is easily walkable from the city centre, it is surrounded by enough trees to give it a decent atmosphere. In fact I like this ground because it is a real football ground. As I write this early in 2002-3 season things seem to have got better for York. There is no threat of closure nor of having to sell the ground and groundshare somewhere 50 miles away which had been threatened.
